In the fourth such incident in a week, another civilian was gunned down by unidentified assailants in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Monday.

The targeted killings have brought together the two factions of the Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar as well as the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.

At a joint meeting on Monday, they called for a shutdown on Wednesday and a “Sopore Chalo” march on Friday.

Thirty-five-year-old Reshi was a former militant with the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen and had spent many years in jail.

Since his release in 2010, he had been living the life of a civilian, his family said.“Reshi had gone for medical test at a nearby diagnostic centre where the two gunmen killed him.

He was not part of any political party and lived an ordinary life, trying to provide for his family and children,” Reshi’s grandfather, Abdul Gaffar, said.
